The Maestro, John K. Farris
For 29 years John K Farris molded and blended ambitious musical
students into award winning bands at Maysville High School. His bands
came back every year with a bus load of excellent ratings at the state band
contests. In my humble opinion, he and his bands were the best sixth band
ever at Bulldog home games. He never scored a basket for the Dogs, but
his band whipped the crowd up to cheer all night for the black and gold. His
stately dressed uniform was unmistaken as he was pure class. He even
required all his band members who played in the venerable MHS gym to
wear their full band uniforms. On this Throwback Thursday lets remember
the man in the white suit and what he meant to Maysville.
