Mason vs Campbell in region 3-1-19 Fieldhouse

10th Region boy’s semifinal action Friday night from the Mason County fieldhouse proved to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Campbell County led Mason County from start to finish while Clark County was able to pull out an overtime win over the Scott Eagles.

Campbell County jumped out to a seven to nothing lead to start the game and never looked back in a 74-51 win over Mason County. The Royals had no answer for the Camels offensive onslaught as Campbell County scored at will several times. Campbell County shot a blistering 73% for the game. Campbell’s Drew Wilson led all scorers with 24 points, while Reid Jolly added 18 and Jordan Gros added 11.

Mason County was paced by Jalen Lofton’s 16 points and Xylon Frey had 14. Mason County ends their season at 15-15. Campbell County improves to 27-4 on the year and will make their third straight appearance in the 10thRegion finals.

Scott had two last second chances for a win over the George Rogers Clark but were not able to convert on either on as Clark will advance with a 60-57 overtime win. Scott’s Kyren Simpson had a look from just inside mid court but his shot bounced off the back of the rim and the two teams would go to overtime.  George Rogers Clark’s Jordan Graham hit one of two free throws with 47.2 left to give the Cardinals a 58-55 lead. Scott’s Nathan Joyce answered with a bucket to close the deficit to one with 30 seconds to play. Scott would get off a shot with a second to play but could not get it to fall. Jared Wellman controlled the rebound for the Cardinals and was fouled with :0.5 remaining. Wellman cashed in on both free throws for the final margin. Scott was paced by Joyce with 19. David Hunter added 12. The Eagles end their season with a 19-12 record. George Rogers Clark was led by Jordan Graham’s 15 points, Wellman added 14 and Brennan Canada chipped in 10. The Cardinals improve to 25-7 and will advance to the 10thRegion championship for the first time in seven years.
