St. Patrick Lady Saints Get Payback Against Rose Hill

Ironton, OH – The Saint Patrick Lady Saints returned to Ironton, Ohio Saturday for a rematch with Rose Hill Christian in the consolation game of the St. Joseph Holiday Classic. It turned out to be just that, a classic.

Rose Hill stunned the Lady Saints last week when Belamee Sparks banked a three pointer at the end of the game for a 43-42 win on St. Patrick’s home court. The sting of that loss stayed with the Lady Saints and carried over into Saturday’s rematch.

Rose Hill let at the end of the first quarter 15-10 behind Delaynee Sparks 11-point effort. The 5’5” junior had a game high 30 points for the Lady Royals. Both teams had a tough time scoring in the second quarter and the Lady Saints went to the locker room at the half trailing by three 19-16.

In the second half, St. Patrick went to their full court press and outscored Rose Hill 26-23 to end the game all tied up in regulation 52-52. In overtime, St. Patrick’s Allison Hughes scored nine of her team’s 13 points and help the Lady Saints earn their fifth win of the season and avenge the earlier loss to Rose Hill.

Senior Lady Saint Libby Gallenstein scored 20 points in her team’s win and was selected to the all-tournament team. Hughes lead St. Patrick in scoring with 21 points on the afternoon.

The two teams will meet for a third time when the Lady Saints travel to Rose Hill on Saturday February 15th matchup. In the meantime, they will return to action Thursday when they travel to Robertson County for a game with the Lady Devils. Rose Hill will visit Cordia on Saturday January 4th.
