Saints fall to Fleming 76-49 in the Shamrock

St. Patrick Falls to Fleming County

After coming off an impressive win against Bellevue Friday night, the St. Patrick Saints saw their fortunes turn as they ended up on the short end in a 27-point loss to Fleming County Saturday night.

The Shamrock was at capacity and the Saints were determined to pick up their second win in as many days against the Panthers but after a slow start, they just couldn’t overcome the early deficit.

Fleming County jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead and took a 24-point lead into the locker room at the half. The Panthers took advantage of their height and outrebounded St. Patrick 48-29 and outscored the Saints 30-18 in the paint.

St. Patrick came out in the second half and battled Fleming County throughout the last two quarters, but it was too little, too late as the Panthers earned their fifth win of the season compared to seven loses. They return to action Monday when they travel to Ashland for a game against 16th region rival Boyd County.

The Saints saw their record fall to 3-8 and will play again Tuesday in a boy/girl double header at home against the Polar Bears of Bracken County.
