Saints, Lady Saints Take Down Jackson City

The Saint Patrick Lady Saints got off to slow start against Jackson City Saturday night but finished strong late in the second half to capture a 61-38 win against the Lady Tigers.

St. Patrick placed three players in double figures as they earned their 8th win on the season. Allison Hughes continued her hot hand as she had a team high 15 points, followed by Senior Justina Klee with 14 and freshman Caroline McKay’s 13-point effort. McKay also contributed five assist and had three rebounds on the night.

The Lady Saints improved to 8-7 on the season and will not return to action until Saturday when they make the trip to northern Kentucky for a boy/girl double header with Covington Latin.

In the nightcap, the St. Patrick boys rallied for 25 fourth quarter points and squeezed by Jackson City 67-56. Eighth grader Jaylan Rigdon scored 16 of his game high 32 points in the fourth quarter, including 11-14 free throws as the Saints captured their 4th win of the season.

The win came after a 41-point drubbing from Nicholas County Friday night in the All A Class at Robertson County. The Saints will have a week to prepare for a rematch with 39th district rival Augusta at the Panther Den in Augusta.
