Lady Royals Beat St. Patrick’s to Claim Another 39th District Title

Brooksville, KY – The Mason County Lady Royals waisted little time in letting everyone know that if they were any expectations of an upset in their game with St. Patrick, it was going to be short-lived.

Mason County raced to a 32-12 first quarter lead and never looked back as they claimed another 39th District title in their win over the Lady Saints 75-43.

The Lady Royals shot a blazing 60.4% on the night, including 50% from three-point range hitting 10/20 behind the arc.

Mason County (15-15) applied full court pressure throughout the game, forcing 17 St. Patrick turnovers. By halftime, the Lady Royals had built a 49-18 lead and cruised to a 32-point victor.

The Lady Royals were led in scoring by Haley White who poured in 17 points in only 21 minutes of play. The lone senior was perfect behind the arc hitting five for five threes.

Mason County also placed two others in double figures with 10 points from Rachael Payne and another 10 points for Nariyal Harrison.

St. Patrick’s Justina Klee had a team 11 points while Allison Hughes added 10 for the Lady Saints (16-13). Freshman guard Caroline McKay recorded nine points along with five assists in her role as the team’s point guard.

Both teams advance to next week’s 10th Region Tournament at Campbell County Middle School. Tournament pairings will take place Saturday at Harrison County High School in Cynthiana.
