Alexandria, KY – In a much anticipated, rematch between two 10th region powerhouses, Bourbon held on to squeeze by Mason County Lady Royals 42-35 in the Girl’s 10th Region Tournament at Campbell County Middle School.
Mason County struggled from the field all night hitting just 13 of 58 from the filed for 22.4 per cent. They ended up 4 of 22 from behind the arc for a chilling 18.1 per cent.
The Lady Royals defensive play kept them in the game as they forced 17 Bourbon County turnovers. The Lady Colonels outrebounded Mason County 52 to 23, including 25 offensive boards on the night and held on down the stretch for the seven-point win.
Bourbon County (20-13) advanced to Friday night’s semi-finals where they will face off against host Campbell County in the night cap. Bourbon defeated Campbell County 45-42 on January 25th at Campbell County.
Mason County ended their season at 15-16 and will look to get things back on track as all but one player returns for the 2020-2021 season. Senior Haley White played in here last game as a Lady Royal. Rachael Payne was named to the 10th Region All-Tournament Team.
