MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State women’s basketball has announced the signing of transfer Laurie Thomas to the program. Thomas, a 5-10 guard, inked her NLI this week after a two-year career at Central Georgia Technical Community College.

“Laurie is a versatile player who can play a wing and post,” said MSU head coach Greg Todd. “Her athleticism and strength will let her guard any position on the floor. She is also an excellent perimeter shooter.”

Thomas was named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Region this past season when she averaged 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Titans and head coach Antonio Harris. Thomas nailed 51 percent of her field goals, including a solid 34 percent from three-point range. Thomas also added 54 steals, averaging 1.9 per game.

She had 24 double-figure scoring games in 2019-20, including a season-high of 21 against Albany (Ga.) Tech. As a freshman in 2018-19, Thomas averaged 11.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. She burst out for 27 points on two occasions and also had a 25-point effort.

Prior to CGTCC, Thomas was a standout at Cedar Shoals High School in her hometown of Albany, Ga.

She joins fellow transfers Fredrionna Adams, Darryn Ziegler and Tyler Moore and incoming freshman Morgan DeFoor as newcomers to the program. Gabby CrawfordEternati Willock and Lauren Carter transferred prior to or during the 2019-20 campaign and will be eligible this year as well.
