UK Defeats Florida

Kentucky Gets Big Win At Florida

By Peggy Gilligan

The Wildcats played their best game of this season tonight winning over the Gators 76-58. Kentucky was lead in scoring by Davion Mintz and Brandon Boston Jr, each with thirteen points followed by Keion Brooks providing twelve points in his first game this season. Olivier Sarr added ten points and Devin Askew contributed nine points. Kentucky’s own Dontaie Allen hit 2 of 3 three point shots for 6 points. Overall it was a balanced scoring effort by the entire team as Cal stated in his post game comments.

It appears that Camp Cal is kicking the team into gear. For the first time this season the Cats played as a team, sharing the ball, playing great defense and having fun on the court.

Brandon Boston Jr. played his best game of the year. Not only did he score 13 points, he grabbed four steals and added four rebounds and best of all no turnovers.

Kentucky’s shots finally started going in the basket tonight. The team as a whole hit 56% on field goals, 46% from the three point line and hit 92% of their free throws. The Cats also won the rebound total 31-30. The defense was terrific with seven blocked shots (Isaiah Jackson with 4) and ten steals (Boston had 4) resulting in 25 points off turnovers against Florida today.

Next up for the Cats is a home game in Rupp Arena against Alabama on Tuesday January 12th at 9PM.
