WBB Announces 2021 Summer Camp Information

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program has announced its 2021 summer camp schedule featuring the annual team experience camp, skills camp, Lil’ Wildcats day camp and new for 2021 is the Wildcat Family Camp. All camps are presented by White-Greer-Maggard Orthodontics.

All camps at Kentucky are designed to give campers an opportunity to improve their game and have fun while they are doing it. Camp instruction will focus on executing the proper fundamentals, sportsmanship and developing the programs core values of family, accountability, hard work, discipline and servant leadership.

The team experience camp provides teams the ultimate camp experience to help improve unity, leadership, fundamentals and knowledge of the game at a collegiate level. Teams will experience an atmosphere of encouragement, games and tournaments designed to help improve coaching and team play, fundamentals to make each player stronger and leadership tools for the entire team. Each team can have up to 15 players and three coaches.

The per team fee is $300. Included in the fee is a camp t-shirt for all participates and coaches, participation in all four breakout sessions, minimum of two games, opportunity to participate in special situations and overtime tournament and an opportunity for one player per team to participate in a 3-point competition.

Camp dates are June 9, 10 and 17. Breakout sessions will be 40 minutes each and include the following:

  • “The Next Level” — a question and answer session with UK coaches and staff to discuss what it takes to play at the next level. Coaches and staff will review what “a day in the life of a Wildcat” looks like and take questions and answers from participates.
  • Team Fundamental Skills Session — lead by UK coaches and staff teams will be given instruction and participate in drills to help develop individual skills and fundamentals. 
  • Facilities and Campus Tour — Teams will be provided a tour of the state-of-the art athletic facilities and University of Kentucky campus. This tour will include stops at the UK Bookstore, student center, campus dorms, academic center and athletic offices.
  • Team Building — Teams and coaches will participate in team building challenges and activities prepared and lead by Kentucky WBB staff.

The skills camp is intended for players 5-12th grade and will be June 11 and 18. The camp is designed for all players who want to improve their game and have fun playing. Players should come ready to focus, learn and improve their fundamentals. The camp is aimed at developing and improving fundamentals and all-around basketball skills. The skills camp offers individual instruction and group stations with an emphasis on fundamentals, position development, individual and team competitions and have the opportunity to work with our elite staff, instructors and players.

The Lil’ Wildcat day camp will be offered June 21-24 and is designed for children entering first grade through fourth grade for the 2021-22 academic year. The camp is a fundamental camp for individual players designed to teach foundation skills for upcoming basketball players. Each day, campers will spend the morning sessions participating in stations to teach them the fundamentals of basketball.

A new camp for 2021 is the Wildcat family camp, which will be June 6 and 27. The camp is intended for adult family members over the age of 18 or legal guardians and girls ages 6-17. The camp is an opportunity to have fun and experience camp as a family. Participates will get to enjoy time with our staff, facilities tours, fundamentals competitions, games and much more.
