Jada Claude Stars but Eagles Fall to SIUE in Saturday Matinee

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Jada Claude starred for the Eagles in what was a battle of defensive runs, but it wasn’t enough to overcome SIUE, as they fell Saturday afternoon, 77-52.

The sophomore transfer once again led all players in scoring, as she notched her fourth double-double on the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds, giving her the second most double-doubles in the OVC this season. Alana Densonchipped in nine points of her own to supplement the scoring.

The press of the Cougars frustrated Morehead State early, as the visitors built a 16-2 lead thanks to a five minute scoring drought from the Eagles. Morehead State flipped the script in the second quarter, however, as their defense clamped down on the Cougars, holding SIUE without a single point for over six minutes of game time and launching an 8-0 run of their own to slice into lead, but still went into halftime behind 38-24.

SIUE unleashed another 14-2 run to open the 2nd half that was too much for the Eagles to come back from.

Next up, Morehead State wraps up their homestand on Monday with a make-up game against UT Martin, with tip off scheduled for 5:00 PM ET.
