Shorthanded Eagles Absorb Loss From Bruins

MOREHEAD, Ky. — A shorthanded Morehead State team showed heart against conference leader Belmont, but ultimately didn’t have enough to overcome the Bruins, falling 103-50.

The Eagles, who saw their previous two games postponed due to Covid protocols, only had seven players available for their matchup with the defending OVC champions, but pieced together a gutsy performance regardless against the Bruins.

Sophomore Jada Claude shouldered the load for the Eagles, leading all scorers and setting a career-high with 22 points alongside seven rebounds and two assists. Redshirt junior Freddy Adams added her own career-high of 13 points to go with two assists and three steals, including hitting back-to-back buzzer beaters to end the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Next up, Morehead State looks to bounce back on Saturday as they stay home to take on SIUE. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 PM ET.
